Tron is a blockchain-based project that was launched in 2017. Unlike many other blockchain projects, Tron did not attempt to promote any cryptographic or network design-related improvements.
Tron's fundamental applications, such as decentralized applications (dApps), smart contracts, tokens, or proof-of-stake consensus, had already been developed and advanced by other projects. Tron differentiated itself mainly through its market strategy focused on the Asian region, which can be attributed to its founder and creator Justin Sun. As a means of payment, Tron launched its own cryptocurrency, Tronix (TRX).
