Compared to most projects in the crypto industry, Hedera does not run on a blockchain and yet it is a decentralized web technology. Hedera has introduced an alternative to blockchain technology that offers a novel patented distributed ledger. Hedera says of itself that it is the "most widely used sustainable and public distributed ledger." The project's public hashgraph network is pushed by the Hashgraph consensus algorithm, which provides a space for users to develop and implement decentralized applications (dApps).
